If you can draw well
If you have a good concept behind you art
If you are good at craft
If your submition is humorous
If you have showed a good technical ability
.... I could go on but these are some of the qualities I think should be displayed by those favourited to reach the front page of dA. Granted I have my homepage set to 24hrs, the 3 days option might filter the top notch from the not so.
Sometimes though, I go to dA and feel a bit "so what" about some of the work on the front page. Usually its the people who have been there time and time again (photographers mainly) who seemed to have taken yet another self portrait, which has been edited slightly in photoshop. Okay maybe if I read their comment about the image, it'll give me some insight into their idea..... oh there isn't one....
Its not all their fault tho, because if you or I found a winning formula that made you popular in the "oh so hard to get anywhere in" art world. I'm sure we'd try wringing out every last drop of success from it.
So who else is to blame, well how do people get on the front page...*points the finger of blame in your general direction*. I read comments sometimes and I just want to throttle some more evaluation out of them. "Its pretty "... yes WHY is it pretty WHAT about it makes you want to type a colon followed by a close bracket?
I could go on all day, but I'll round it off here.

So in conclution: fellow dA artists, next time you go to click that add to favourites button, just think. "What makes this image good?"
